The EZ/ACCF conference will provide an opportunity for representatives from legal, business, and government communities to discuss current problems in corporate law from the standpoint of Delaware corporate law. In the United States, Delaware corporate law is associated with a high quality and flexbile corporate code that generally has positive effects on the performance of firms. Delaware’s court system also plays a fundamental role in resolving disputes between firms and shareholders and consequently Delaware is the main center for dispute resolution in the United States. Not only is Delaware the leading state for incorporations of publicly listed corporations in the US, but business parties choose to create Delaware limited liability companies and partnerships due to the large stock of legal precedents and the economic benefits associated with the use of such forms. Dutch policymakers are now considering company law reforms which have been undertaken earlier in Delaware. The conference will provide invited participants with an opportunity to discuss these issues with the visiting delegation of Delaware judges, policymakers and lawyers and with the leading judges, lawyers and policymakers from the Netherlands.
